Can you see the two white dots to the lower right of the moon? This was a pretty darn good picture my little digital took of the two nights when you could see both Jupiter and Venus shining brightly in the sky.
Did any of you see it too? Take pictures of it?
And now the Winter Solstice has come and gone, and the cycles of the moon will take us closer and closer to spring.

Sydney, I am so glad you got the shot and posted it. We knew about it and wanted to see it, but had a heavy cloud cover those nights. I remember getting my kids up out of bed in the middle of the night during some of the meteor showers and for the comet's passage. (years ago, of course) I thought it important enough to wake them. I sent them both alerts about this last event, too.
That's a neat shot! Have a very merry Christmas, Sydney. And a very happy new year!
I did and it was beautiful. I had a long trip one evening on a clear night. Thanks for capturing the photo. Merry Christmas Sydney
That is amazing Sidney! Thanks for sharing that with us, I'll make sure to show my children!
Happy Holiday,
Carla
Did see it Sydney... just didn't know what I was seeing. I kept asking and nobody else seemed to know. Just goes to show ya, I need to come here for a new teaching.
I'm not surprised that you got the shot, although it's even better with the moon... those "stars" were so bright that you couldn't miss them. They made you look up into the sky.
Thanks for the lesson.
Hee! Hee! i had to laugh as when this same phenomena was visible in our skies it was a ~smile~! Two stars on top with the moon as a smile :) So who is really 'Down under' i wonder! Lol! (ps) i tried to take photo's of it but my camera is not good enough for those kind of shots xox
Nolly Posh -- my Austrtalian friend, that says it all doesn't it!

At my side of the world (southern hemisphere) it actually made a smiley face. It was so cool.
( and I did not get a photo. can you believe it?)
